The Mastermyr Find was an extraordinary discovery -- a Viking tool chest, with all its tools. The plates, both photographs and drawings, in this book clearly show not only the chest itself, but also the tools it contained. Some are surprisingly familiar. Others, once common to the kits of the tradesmen who used them, have given way to different patterns. Additional drawings show the tools as they would have looked at the time the chest was somehow lost in what was then a swamp. It is a small snapshot of the time as it had been packed for travel, even having cooking tools attached to it for the journey.The book is an excellent catalog of Viking tools, but it is also a hoard of information. What cannot be easily seen in the photos is made plane by the descriptions and archeological drawings. The metallurgy of the artifacts, from saws to bronze cauldrons, has been examined and included in the text.How well do I like the book? I immediately bought another copy for a friend.

If you are into old tools you will like this book a lot. The organization is a bit weak, probably due to the authors and publisher working on a limited budget. It would have been a lot better if the illustrations had been distributed through the text instead of put in a separate catalog section at the end. Some of the dating seems a little off to me. Any comprehensive collection of tools like this would have almost certainly been assembled over several, if not many generations. That point does not seem to be adequately appreciated in the commentary, or maybe I'm picking a nit that isn't there. Anyway, if you are interested in the history of woodworking or metalworking, you will enjoy this.

If you're hoping to physically recreate the same tool chest for historical reenactment, this is the book for you. It has measurements and sketches in addition to photos, and the rest of the book is historical context and how the items were found.

I had hoped there would be dimensions in the sketches. this would help me try to reproduce some of the items.

This book is quite unique. It’s about former lovers ending up on a train almost thirty years after a horrible break-up. Although there’s barely any dialogue, the writing style is excellent, and it’s a short and quick read. It’s riveting and I simply had to finish it one day. As with any book, it’s won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but for me it was an engrossing read.

A fast-paced story in which two people reunite on a train many years after breaking up. It's a quick read, but dense in detail and backstory.

Really enjoyed this one. Concise and well-told look into memory musings, internal lives and the interaction that could happen between two people who haven't seen each other in a very long time.

I purchased this book on the recommendation of a facebook post-I really enjoyed it-a quick read-unique setting and storyline-not a typical plot-very good.

interesting read about reflecting on prior behavior in a relationship. fast read. thoughtful.

Interesting take on the thoughts of two former lovers as they ride the train pretending not to recognize each other.

Unusual writing in that it's told in first-person narrative from BOTH of the characters, alternating between them. In the Kindle version, that was a little hard to figure out at first -- there was nothing separating them in terms of a name, and it took me a bit to realize what the author was doing. The story was great. Simple story, that shows how much things like youthful cruelty and lack of consideration for others can damage us (both parties!) and for how long. Without offering anything like a spoiler, I will just say that the ending was remarkable.
