The book seems to be mostly written for people who charter boats in the Virgin Islands even though the cover title eludes that it is for cruisers (private boaters). The book lacks a lot of information that private cruisers need. Also, some of the information is incorrect (i.e. It says you can anchor in an area with good holding that is very grassy and has no holding. It also states there are new government moorings installed in St. Croix but there are no new government moorings installed--yet). The book is 2015/2016. This is 2017. The information should be more accurate. There is some good information about the cities' histories, shopping...etc...that is fine but mostly sounds like it was sent by the Tourist Center to the author. I am not sure the authors actually visit the places they write about to see for themselves if the information is correct.We bought these guides so we could plan ahead and so we would know the layout of the area in advance. Important information on things like good anchoring, dinghy docks, moorings...etc. If the information is incorrect it can and has caused us major difficulties when visiting an area. We are longtime experienced boaters. We compare several sources for information when we visit a destination and do not relay on just one source. I feel the money I spent on these books would have been better spent elsewhere on a different source of information.

My husband & I visited the British Virgin Islands for the first time in March 2012 & took this book along, after reviewing literally dozens of other book options. It was absolutley invaluable!!!! We did a bare boat charter, meaning we rented a sailboat with no captain as we are sailors with experience in the Southern California ocean, but unfamiliar with these islands. This book was also provided by Moorings Charter on each of their fleet of sailboats & catamarans, which again, underscores its value. My husband found the charts and aerial photos of the ingress and egress for each marina and cove of each island invaluable! The written descriptions supported the photos with helpful and, yes, critical information concerning shallow areas, rocks, available moorings, and the availability of restaurants, marina access to water or electricity, wi-fi, gift shops, bars, groceries and other provisions. We refered to the information in this book throughout each and every day - no exaggeration. Prior to our vacation, this book provided insightful explanations of what we could expect and helped us to pencil in a loose intinerary for the week; during the trip, it provided reminders of what to watch out for, what to look for and where to look for what. We had such a fantastic vacation, that we repeated the experience, accompanied by our adult son and his fiance, in December 2012. Same boat, some of the same islands, some different. Prior to leaving on this second trip, we purchased this book again as a gift for our son, who also found the book enjoyable reading and spiked his happy anticipation of this vacation - which, he reported, was the "best vacation of my life!" Even during our second BVI vacation, we still refered to this book every day. If you are planning a bare boat charter of anywhere in the British or American Virgin Island, this is THE BOOK TO TAKE. Bon Voyage!

I am finding this guide exactly what I had hoped for, as my husband and I plan for a fall, 2016, bareboat catamaran trip in the BVI! We are able to generally plan an itinerary, thanks to this complete guide, knowing we won't miss the BVI highlights we want to share with our guests on this trip! This is our second bareboat adventure, and this guide will have us cruising with confidence!

If you are planning a trip (sailing or not) to the BVI, this guide is a MUST HAVE!!! The overhead maps, the descriptions of reefs, watch-out-for-this, the must visit islands + bars... very nicely put together. Not 100% sure what was updated since the previous edition, but that doesn't matter. JUST GET IT ALREADY! :-)

This is an excellent guide for bareboaters or anyone touring the Virgin Islands by boat. Most travel guides are written from the terrestial travler point of view, this one from the nautical. Be certain to buy Virgin Anchorages, the companion booklet showing beautiful color photos of major (and some minor) bay along with anchoring notes not found on the offical nautical charts. The included nautical chart is a great addition to the offical charts as the shallow areas are clearly shaded in red,unlike the offical charts. This is an excellent tool for planning your caribbean bareboat cruise!

We recently used the latest edition on a sailing trip last week and this book was essentially our Bible for the trip. It had the most up-to-date information on the Islands we were visiting, where we could moor/anchor overnight, and what restaurants/bars were worth checking out. We loved it! I would recommend it to anyone heading over to the Islands.

This is an excellent guide providing good information about the different anchorages, islands, and ports in the Virgin Islands. I found it to be a bit understated at times in the language used to describe the mood or atmosphere at certain locations. I guess this can change and they just want to give an average or normal feeling of that location (i.e.- The Willy T can be a bit loud, HA ya think). The ads are a bit annoying but can be easily overlooked. The photos and maps of anchorages are a great supplement to good charts and an excellent tool to help plan a trip. My review seems to have mostly negative comments but it really is a great guide that contains lots of great information including some history of the islands, pirate tales and some local cultural information.A great help to any bareboat charterers! I really enjoyed it!

Very satisfied. It's just what my son needed!

Wasn't completely thrilled with this, bought Adult All in One THeory book and found it much better. This book is great for kids that are beginners. I teach piano and bought this for a 25 year old and it's definatly for younger kids just learning!

My daughter is a music student and requested this book. She uses it all the time.

My preteen daughters use this curriculum with a piano teacher. They are doing great this is what our piano teacher likes to use. She uses it verbatim, page for page.

I like that it covers both levels 2 and 3! But the page numbers don't say which book (2 or 3) the assignment goes to. Love the assignments.

It sounded interesting but it wasn't. Most letters are very brief and not very informative. Until life brings her to yet another crossroad, Rhett Loughlin arrives in town, He has a dream he must fulfill.Lavinia and Rhett meet under a very awkward situation. Lavinia also has a dream of her own, a love to design hats. An opportunity far away awaits her. She is anxious to leave Colorado and begin her new life.I loved this story very much, especially the interactions between Lavinia and Rhett .This story has it all, humor, love, family, passion, a must read for sure.Yes, Caroline! you have done it, I'm sure I'll go back and read this story again and again.Also, the map of Eden Colorado in the beginning of the book is such a perfect touch, Interesting to see the layout of the towns.

5 stars from me. Lavinia wants nothing more than to make hats. She has agreed to stay in Eden Colorado for 6 months to honor her father's will. She runs the hotel and restaurant. Rhett Laughlin new in town from San Francisco with his brothers dog Dallas to open a restaurant. He knows nothing about running a restaurant or even how to cook. He was mistaken for the new Doctor at no fault of his own. This puts him and Lavinia at odds. This book takes us back to Eden Colorado and the 5 Brinkman sisters. I loved it! Held my interest from start to finish.

Caroline Fyffe is one of my favorite writers of western historical fiction. She brings her readers back to the 19th century and so colorfully describes her characters' lives and what the west was like in the late 1800's. The story has five sisters as heroines, two have found love --I'll anxiously wait for books about the remaining three.

I'm disappointed when the book ends. I want to read more. I want to hear more about the Brinkman sisters and learn what's new in Edan. Excited for Colorado Hearts Book 3 to come out. Can't wait for more!

Another book about the Five Sisters. Always full of delightful love with no smarmy characters. Some would probably think the stories to sweet. I like the values embeded in these stories.Handles s friend's betrayal very well and gives reader a view of how to walk through forgiveness.

I have been waiting for this next book in the series. These sisters are all so different but have fallen in love with the town and the people. But in everything there is a struggle. And leaving dreams behind to find others is just one Lavinia has to face. Such heartbreak and tenderness, danger and despair is shown throughout this story along with some quite funny antics also. I teared up a few times and that is hard to make me do as well as laughung out loud! I feel the heart in Caroline's books and that makes me love them so much more. Lavinia has always dreamed of being a milliner as long as she can remember. And her dream was about to become reality. Until her fathers death. And their move to Colorado. Now she runs the hotel and cafe and is happy with her life. But she wants her dream. Rhett comes to town running from his past. Running from the guilt and blame he believes he has caused. Bearing the newspapers with the stories of the sisters, and the hope of keeping his brothers dream alive he is determined to make it happen. Mistaken identity causes things to go from bad to worse upon entering town. And he gets off on the wrong foot with everyone. Which is fine with him. Except he can't get the lovely Lavinia out of his mind. And that can only bring trouble.There is so much standing in the way of these two. But common ground is found and a love of Eden brings them all together. Their openness with one another brings about a bond stronger than either thought possible. And when faced with his greatest fear, Rhett realizes what his true heart's desire is. Can Lavinia come to love him as well or will she leave him broken once again?

Lavinia finds all kinds of action, intrigue, romance and momentous life choices to keep her and the rest of Eden and the Brinkman sisters extremely busy. A very engaging second chapter to this enjoyable series. I especially like the occasional light humor and mischievous moments. Highly recommend.

It's an enjoyable story and one of the classic cyberpunk novels, worth a read if interested. I don't want to spoil anything, it's not for everyone but there's more than a few gems to be gleamed from this.

He turns off machines, that's his job. They are dangerous machines, androids, but he is basically turning off machines. But he realizes that there is little difference between the machines and the people he knows. So why MUST the machines be turned off?This is a moral dilemma for Decker and he cannot untwist his increasing sympathy for the androids he is hunting from his sense of duty to the force and his wife.It is very sad and very depressing especially when you are clearly presented with androids who are not sympathetic, do not care, except about their own survival, and can only imitate emotion, not really feel. In the end Decker is crippled by his murder of the last of the androids. He will no longer hunt them, can no longer kill them.Blade Runner hinted at this moral dilemma but spectacle triumphed over substance and all we have left of it is Decker's moves to save the woman/android he has come to love. That, and the magnificent monologue of Rutger Hauer on the roof of the Bradbury Building. Stunning performance. That recollection of his life makes him human, no different then other humans but then, it's time to die. Love, love, love that scene.

Philip K. Dick's novel surpasses the Ridley Scott's cult classic on many levels. The novel contains some white-knuckled suspense sequences, and it has predicaments and situations that are far more provocative than the film. It seems difficult to believe that Scott and his writers didn't leave it alone instead of trying to improve it. The book deals with what it means to be human, and principally this is empathy. Our bounty hunting San Francisco Policeman wants to buy a live animal rather than keep a computerized sheep that mysteriously malfunctions. In the post-apocalyptic San Francisco, humans all strive to have some kind of animal. These humans live in the aftermath of a nuclear war referred to as "World War Terminus" that has eliminated many animals. As it turns out, our hero is a second-string sort of bounty hunter who discovers that the number one bounty hunter has been wounded by a Nexus-6 model android, and he has the chance 'to retire' these androids. The Rick Deckerd character in the novel has a wife and his adventures against the androids are much more suspenseful. One of the best scenes occurs when he is arrested after trying to test an opera singer and is taken into custody at an alternative San Francisco Police Headquarters. If you love the film, but you haven't read the novel, you may change your mind after you read all the missed opportunities that Scott and company passed up when they adapted the novel.

This kind of novel defies understanding. I could tell there was enough in here to leave revelations after several readings, despite its slim size, but my one read through yielded enough for a satisfying experience. Empathy is an obvious theme. The novel asks us what deserves our empathy, and twists that in surprising ways. Once we start to see the androids as something akin to human, PKD twists our legs off. Its an interesting juxtaposition, and made for a fascinating scene.My favorite quality of this novel is how pkd shifted the world and examined the cultural impact of it. After WWT, live animals became scarce leading to a market of life like robotic animals. Actual animals became pricey commodities and a symbol of status. Our hero of the novel desires a living animal, and he obsesses over it throughout to an almost comical degree. This is where the title comes in, he owns an electric sheep and wonders if the androids have their own humanlike desires.A great read, i see why PKD is a legend. His imagination is astounding and breaks all the rules without breaking a sweat. Will read more of his work including this novel again. You should too.

Seeing as this novel is considered a seminal work in the science fiction genre, I was expecting a lot from this piece of writing.I found the central theme of the novel quite profound and it caused me to consider deeply just what the difference between genuine and counterfeit are, and whether such difference even matters.Also, I deeply enjoyed the complexity of the characters as there were several moments in the novel where their motives were not easily predictable.Furthermore, the book had several tense moments when the detective was attempting to ascertain whether one of his targets was an android or not. I was quite surprised by how tense I felt and this is a testament to the quality of the writing.The end of the book is a fair bit sombre but it feels congruous with the general tone of the book, I was quite satisfied with the end of the novel.This is a classic example of the science fiction genre and a great read, a real must read!

What a surprise!If you've seen the 1982 Blade Runner movie, you already know Deckard is a bounty hunter....works for law enforcement....and has a license to kill rogue androids aka replicants.DO ANDROIDS DREAM OF ELECTRIC SHEEP was the inspiration for the old movie as well as Blade Runner 2049 in theatre's now and is the same in some respects, but without the intensity and violence. It kind of has a strange calmness to it....almost like you've taken a mood enhancer, and there's a whole other plot going on. Very bizarre.I don't want to be a "chicken-head" and give anything away so I'll just say....times are bleak, desperate and totally weird after W.W.T. (World War Terminus) with people trying to survive on a contaminated earth....animals are a rare commodity....and most....those that passed the test have defected to Mars.Definitely MORE thought provoking than the movie....Definitely NOT the action-packed thriller with brutal fights between bounty hunter and a highly-intelligent & dangerous species of replicant."You shall kill only the killers."

What happens when an amateur that hasn’t biked in years attempts to take on the course? Tim Moore decides to find out, taking the reader through the often off-color history of the tour: cheating riders, abuse of performance-enhancing drugs, and the antics of crazed superfans. Moore oscillates between cursing terrible meals eaten along the way, reveling in the comradery of locals impressed by his undertaking, and moaning the destruction of small towns by creeping globalization. He fails spectacularly at boosting his performance through the abuse of over-the-counter amphetamines. Most of his misadventures are more mundane; he humorously bemoans his difficulties climbing mountains and the odd mechanical noises produced by his bicycle.French Revolutions has many similarities to A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson, a book I enjoyed last year. Each covers the adventures of an ambitious self-powered traveler attempting a journey for which they are completely ill-equipped. Both have a heavy dose of comedy and sarcasm, poking fun at people they cross paths with and cursing treacherous terrain, but ultimately saving the most ridicule for themselves during the depths of their ineptitude. Both immediately plot and execute shortcuts to cheat days off their trips. The strength of Bryson’s book is its buddy comedy -- Bryson somehow found and convinced an out-of-shape old friend to join him for the journey. Moore’s journey is solo and leans heavier on the historic backbone both books use to build interest around the respective journeys.Overall, French Revolutions entertains and encourages the reader to think about taking on their own adventure.

I laughed loud a few times when he described how mystified and clueless he was even in the face of a simple puncture and his attempts of saving face when talking to "real cyclists". I especially liked how he described his cheating in the mountains and covering it up in subsequent encounters.Mostly it describes his slow transformation from a "Fred" to a cyclist and I got more than a little bit eager to try Le Tour myself one day (including the occasional cheating).

The book's an enjoyable read, if a bit implausible at first, when the author claims such total ignorance of everything cycling, yet plans a 2000 mile trip. The style reminded me of Bill Bryson, though not reported with Bryson's ultra-sharp eye. I thought it was a fair mix of reportage and humor and once the narrative got past the 'I'm such an ill-prepared novice' confessional was an engaging read with some good historical research. By the way, Tim, the English champion was Percy Stallard, not Stannard.

After reading it, I'm unsure whether to recommend it or nor. It is an amusing account of the author's attempt on cycling the Tour de France route, despite lacking both experience and fitness.It is hilarious at best, but the style of Time Moore is an acquired taste. The language is rich, in fact it is swamped with curious words and British cultural references. Endangered words such as proboscis, ululations, stultifying, decorum, fatuousness, jocularity, etc are littered around the book - but after a while the effect of hyperinflation sets in and it becomes a slight annoyance.In short, it is a book about the love of La Grande Boucle - thus a must for those who enjoy Tour de France, and recommended for those partial to cycling, but who have yet to get inflicted with the Tour fever.

This is an entertaining book; the writing is unique, at times quite hilarious, and also at times a bit hard to follow with very esoteric references made that are supposed to be funny. Overall highly recommended to the cycling enthusiast.

I didn't like the flippancy or overly Brit humor at first. But I grew to like the author as he morphed into a credible athlete by book's end. If you love the Tour or if you've toured by bike or foot in Europe, then you'll identify with many of his stories. It did stir a longing to have a go at some of those climbs.

I loved this book. It was a little difficult to read as Moore is very British, but this also made the book entertaining.It's was a slow read for me, but that gave me a chance to savor the trip!I often felt I was right there with him on his journey around France.

A must read for all adventure travelers not just cyclists. So well written I feel like I was there feeling every experience and funny as well.

It is wonderful to open a book and see your family. I found my father's picture with his family and was amazed. My aunt and my cousin are acknowledged for providing information on my family.

Great fun. Found pix of my grandparents and great-aunts and uncles. Read about many of the people my mother would mention in her stories about Haverhill.
