Review
"I'm thrilled to see this practical book bring together a variety of voices who all have one thing in common: lovingly sharing the good news with Mormons. An invaluable resource!" —Lee Strobel, Professor of Christian Thought at Houston Baptist University, best-selling author of The Case for Christ"Sharing the Good News with Mormons is an elite book—not because it is hard to understand, but because it isn't. The authors have worked hard to make things very clear and practical. I know many of them and have deep respect for their fidelity to the historic Christian faith and the effort they have exerted to know why they believe and how to communicate that with others. The book is elite because it is rich in its content, broad in the topics covered, and first rate in every way. Happily, whoever reads this book will gain tools for communicating the gospel in all kinds of situations and to people outside of Mormonism as well. Get this book, study it, and share it with others." —J.P. Moreland, author and Distinguished Professor of Philosophy, Talbot School of Theology, Biola University"The many creative and friendly approaches explored in this book eliminate the intimidation of sharing with Mormons. Each way is unique and is explained by contributors who have long practiced what they preach. Highly recommended!" —Donna Morley, PhD, author, adjunct professor at The Master's University, and cofounder of Faith and Reason Forum"The book you hold in your hands represents an unprecedented treasury of practical wisdom and advice on how to share your faith in Jesus Christ with Later-day Saints. Far from offering a one-size-fits-all approach to reaching Mormons for Christ, the contributors share a range of approaches they have developed over many years of effective, on-the-ground evangelistic interaction. It is a 'tactical toolbox' from which you may explore a range of approaches in search of the one (or more) that works best for you. During and after my time as a seminary professor in Utah I came to know and trust many of the contributors to this volume, and I can honestly say that a better and more credible collection of contributors can hardly be imagined." —Ronald V. Huggins, former Associate Professor of Historical and Theological Studies, Salt Lake Theological Seminary"This jewel has enough facets to equip each of us for reaching Mormons, and those who leave the Mormon church, with commonsense twenty-first-century tools. Experts in their field have teamed up with general editors Eric Johnson and Sean McDowell to provide an informative work filled with practical training, riveting testimonies, and sound apologetics. Well done!" —Judy Salisbury, founder/president of Logos Presentations, author of Reasons for Faith and Divine Appointments

Several "All Stars" of Christian apologetics are brought together in one volume sharing different methods they use to reach Mormons (members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) with the biblical Gospel. People want to know what one thing they can say to win LDS people to Jesus. It doesn't work like that because there are millions of Latter-day Saints with different priorities, varying reasons why they are LDS. Some really believe in the Book of Mormon. Others barely think about it but do love the family programs and ideas. Some are attracted by modern-day prophets and apostles, starting with Joseph Smith himself, who founded the church. To think one Bible verse or pamphlet would reach all of them infallibly is naive. There are many ways to teach the truth of the Bible. The beauty of this book is that the people writing each chapter have actually experienced success in reaching Mormons. The ideas presented are tried and tested. They are loving and not attacking. They show the kind of caring we would want ourselves if someone thought we were involved in something that wasn't what it claimed. People no longer have to be baffled as how to share their faith. Here is an entire book filled with great plans that really work. Try anything from any chapter and if you stick to it, you will see people embrace salvation as a free gift of God. They will stop trying to prove their worthiness. Gone is the excuse that you can't share your faith.
I admit right up front that I am not a huge fan of the LDS 'religion'. I believe it is false and heretical cooked up by some 19-year-old in New York in the early 1800's when he couldn't understand the real Bible. I also have Mormon in-laws who have consistently criticized my understanding of "grace". My view is completely in line with Ephesians 2: 8-9. Logic dictates that it has to be this way as God's gift to His people.I heard this book's author on an apologetics podcast and was blown away by his knowledge and compassion for this misguided cult. He literally softened my heart. This book is a must-have for any Christian who interfaces with Mormons or who dreads the knock on the door and the big smile "HI! I'm Elder Smith...Have you read the Book of Mormon?" Having Sean McDowell involved makes it even better!! Each chapter breaks down a different approach to deal ing with Mormons. All of them good and some are outstanding.
This is an excellent resource that provides many tools in the tool box. Get this and read/study it before you need to reference it in a conversation.
Since not all people respond to any message in the same way, this book is incredibly helpful in showing different ways that people can respond to the truth of God. Not all of the strategies posted here are going to be comfortable for every person to try. That’s kind of the point, pick the one or ones that fit your personality and the people you know the best and go from there. The biggest thing to remember in all of this, is that there is no “magic bullet†when speaking to the LDS. And if you’re looking to “close†An LDS person into historical Christianity in one shot, you will be left disappointed. FYI, debating angrily with the LDS never works. In fact, it tends to reinforce their “persecution†complex. This book helps you figure out the best tact to take. Most importantly, you need to care about the individual people that you’re trying to share historical Christianity with. They are not a “targetâ€, they are people that God loves very much.
I really enjoyed this book! I've already started using some sections. Chapter 8 with the on-line resources, using the LDS authoritative works to help those in this religion understand or start to question its validity. The book is easy to read and use.
What a fantastic book. There are so many ways to approach the false doctrine of Mormonism, and this book seems to cover them all. If you are looking for ways to share the gospel with Mormons or even just to understand the differences between the LDS Church and the Christian church, I highly recommend this book. It provides approaches from historical reliability, character analysis, doctrine, theological, salvation and so many more. I am grateful that this book is here!
Better time may be spent on helping non-believers not these people who worship Jesus Christ... I find nothing in their doctrine that contradicts the Bible. How do you witness to someone that already has a fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ? Christian religions have bits and pieces of truth but don't apply the whole bible to their faiths. There is so much in the Bible that Christian faiths don't know what to do with and certainly don't agree on. I find this book fascinating in that it is a "how to" to water down Christ's gospel and bring other people that love Jesus and know what he did for them to group think. Mormons don't work their way to heaven, there is only one way there, through the grace of Christ's atonement. Don't put to much faith in something that someone said in 1840. "By their fruits ye shall know them". The gospel of Jesus Christ has been established on earth with the same foundation and organization that Christ established. There is only one church that applies the full gospel and contradicts nothing that the bible teaches. Mormons teach the Old Testament and the New Testament on Sundays for one hour. I appreciate the loving approach that this book offers but Mormons don't need to be persuaded by anyone. If you live what Mormons teach... you will keep the commandments, honor your family, be loyal to your wife, provide service to others, try to live all the Christ like attributes and treat others as you would want to be treated. The meek and those with charity will inherit the earth and heaven. So if I need to be saved from what this church teaches why am I so happy and have a beautiful family that I love. I know Jesus Christ, he guides me everyday by his holy spirit. I receive promptings and am aware of things that I would not normally be aware of if the spirit wasn't guiding me. All that this church teaches is good. Nothing in its' teachings drives me away from Christ, only to him.
