A thoroughly enjoyable read. A second book that can stand alone but gains much from the first book. Greatly enjoyed the magic system and the expansion / discovery of more depth to the magic system. A wider array of characters utilizing skills in rather unique ways also lends a richness to a story when done well, and Mr. Rowe does it well. The general plot of the book is one that could easily become trite or tropey and yet, in Stealing Sorcery, it was handled well and becomes intriguing, captivating. I enjoyed watching the characters grow both maturing as adults and expanding their skill sets. A good mix of interplay among characters without becoming politics for politics' sake. I think he did an excellent job of balancing the parts of the story and presenting a well crafted tale.For an escapist reader as I tend to be, it was pure enjoyment. The only thing I didn't care for about the book was when it ended. Now, I'm impatiently waiting for book 3.
Another very interesting book from Andrew Rowe. A great second entry to the series with a very different style of plot to the first book. The detective style plot line alongside the academy style training plot was a very nice combo that kept the chapters fresh and moving. I would recommend reading the first of the series as the beginning quarter of the book throws you straight into the thick of it without a lot of recap of who the characters are or what they did during the first book. Aside from that minor nit pick the book delivered a interesting plot within the magnificent world Andrew Rowe has created and I cannot wait for more of this series.
I loved this book. I thought the first book was excellent, showing a detailed world with a well thought out system of magic used by the characters of the books, the second book built on the first with a fast paced story building up more of the world which really captured my imagination. I sped through this book until I ran into the eventual ending which just left me with a "too soon!" feeling, I didn't want to stop reading and am currently looking forward to the release of the 3rd book.
I've enjoyed Andrew Rowe's books. They are clear and a easy read. Some fantasy tends to get overly involved and bogs down due to the overly complexity of their writing. This is more along the lines of Harry Potter or a retelling of a DnD campaign. It's thoroughly enjoyable because of it's straight forwardness. It's well written and thought out. I'd recommend this to any fantasy fan, especially young readers, but also to anyone else that reads lots of heavier fantasy like I do. Enjoy!
The most impressive part of Forging Divinity (the first book in the series) is the care the author takes to plot out every detail with meticulous care. Every one of the character considers their actions carefully and takes the most prudent course of action available to them. None of them are witless for the sake of plot convenience, or forget to act in their own best interests.That tendency continues here, and I'm pleased to say that it's to the story's benefit. Though the first book plodded a bit while characters explained facets of the world to one another, this second entry benefits from a clear conflict (a mystery to solve) and more immediate stakes. The cast is still analytical and careful, but they are also passionate and motivated, and the plot benefits.

I would rank this series against any of the classics by Jim Butcher or Brandon Sanderson. Really great world building, great character depth and plot lines are intertwined beautifully. Worth the read!!!
